Studio@Deyes officially opened its doors to students on Monday 5th September 2016. Studio Schools are a new type of state school for students of all abilities, offering an innovative way for students to gain employability skills whilst studying professional qualifications needed to succeed in education, work and life.
Studio@Deyes are working with notable regional and national businesses, such as Barclays, Merseytravel, Draw & Code, The Leather Satchel Co and Willmott Dixon, all of which are working with the studio’s curriculum to address the individual academic, social and emotional progress of every student.
The studio’s mix of academic and vocational courses allows students to access GCSE and A-Level qualifications alongside industry standard qualifications allowing progression to higher education or into industry.
This forward-thinking school, with impressive sixth form facilities, focuses on academic achievement and personal development through Project Based Learning and Work Placements, working closely with employers. This form of learning impacts on the daily learning experienced by the students.
Studio@Deyes will bring a new option and a different way of working for the students the Trust. With Project Based Learning and integrated work placement, Studio@Deyes will be able to lead these aspects of work across the Trust. Equally, there will be expertise in other schools and academies that the Studio can benefit from.
On a personal note, as a new Headteacher it is great to be able to work as part of a team with Ann Stahler’s experience and knowledge to learn from as well.
